About Us
In 1996 Scott Greer (Owner/Winemaker) stumbled upon 76 acres of land in the Yakima Valley now known as Sheridan Vineyard. Little did he know that this would lead to an unexpected career change from finance to the wine world. In 1996 he planted 4 acres and his first harvest came in 2000 which produced a Syrah and a red wine blend now known as L'Orage . Scott knows as a self-taught winemaker there is still much to learn in this rapidly evolving industry, he feels that the future of the Yakima Valley and the Washington wine industry is unlimited and we truly have the ability to produce world class wines.
Chris Hoon is a third generation farmer who joined Sheridan in 2001, he wears many hats both at the winery and in the vineyard, assisting Scott in all aspects of production from vineyard pruning to wine bottling. Chris is an invaluable part of the team keeping the day-to day operations of Sheridan running smoothly. One of Chris's greatest attributes is his tremendous sense of humor and ability to make people laugh.
"I really feel lucky to be able to live and work in a place that has the ability to produce such high quality wines, having grown up just down the road from here, I especially like showing off the area to visitors, it's a great day when you can share a few laughs and a glass of wine with friends and soon to be friends"-Chris Hoon
